These Remingtons are the fore runner to the 1100/1187 series.  Approximately 62,000 of these guns were manufactured between 1959 and 1962.  It goes to show how popular they were.  For it’s age and condition this one is a very, very good example.  At this price it makes it an ideal entry level weapon.
