Shown here is the new model Stirling Model 1700 in 17HMR.  This calibre has proved extremely popular.  It seems now most world manufacturers are making one, and Stirling from the Philippines are no different.  They’ve used their standard 22 magnum rifle and made some modifications to it.  It now has a separate bolt release and a cocking indicator at the rear of the bolt. 

The gun is fitted with a good set of adjustable open sights and has been threaded to allow the use of a silencer.  The top of the receiver has been dovetailed so a scope can be mounted with no problems.  The rifle stock is manufactured from mahogany and has been checkered both on the fore end and the pistol grip.  The butt stock also has a raised cheek piece and a small rubber recoil pad has been fitted.

The over all fit and finish of this gun is very good.  Stirling have come a long way in the last thirty years.  These guns represent excellent value for money and are finished to a high standard.  Worth considering if you’re chasing 17HMR.
