The AUG was adapted by the Austrian Army in 1977. The rifle has also been adopted by the Australian and New Zealand Military as their standard rifle. The New Zealand and Australian rifles are manufactured in Australia by the Australian Defence Industry in Lithgow and it’s designation is F88 of Steyr. The AUG in it’s full military form is a select fire weapon with a conventional gas piston operated action that fires from a closed bolt. Designed as a family of rifles that could be quickly adapted to a wide variety of rolls with the change of a barrel to the desired length and profile, the AUG is a modular configuration rifle that employs a high level of polymer and advanced alloy components. The rifle pictured here is an Austrian made civilian version of the military AUG. It has all the same features as the military version except select fire. The civilian versions we have in stock are all fitted with heavy barrels measuring 20”. This particular example is also fitted with a picatinny rail which will allow you to fit any type of sighting system you desire. These guns are a rare opportunity to obtain a weapon that is seldom available and as far as I know, we are the only company in New Zealand with these guns in stock available for resale now!
