The M1 Carbine is a lightweight semi automatic carbine that became a standard firearm in the US Military during WWII and the Korean War and was produced in several variants. It was widely used by US and foreign military and para military forces, and has been a popular civilian firearm.
In selective fire versions, capable of fully automatic fire, the carbine is designated the M2. The M3 Carbine, was an M2 with an active infrared scope system.
Production of the M1 Carbine started in September 1941 and went through to August 1945. Commercial production started in 1945 to the present. Over 6.25 million M1 Carbines have been built.
The one shown here is one of the rarer guns to find, and it is a Winchester manufactured gun. The metal work is in excellent condition retaining most of it’s parkerised finish, having wear only on the operational parts.
The stock is in reasonable condition, but does have a few blemishes and a small piece cracked out behind the tang, behind the rear sight. Other than that, it is in very good condition and complete with sling, oil bottle, bayonet lug, open sights, front sights. Everything is there. This is a good one and a rare one.
