Guide to Air Rifle Pellet Buying

There are no "right" or "wrong" pellets for your airgun / air rifle. Correct air rifle pellet selection is a matter of trial and error to finding the pellet that works best in your air rifle in the situation you need it for. That may be target shooting or hunting and long or short range. This is because air rifles will fire pellets differently. A good rule of thumb is .22 light weight air rifle pellets 12-15gr for short range for up to approx 20-30 metres and .22 heavy air rifle pellet 16-21gr for longer range 30+ metres.

A good way to test is to try a number of different pellets and shoot each one from a bench rest or Bipod to determine its  accuracy in your airgun, this will provide you with accurate results on the best pellets to use in your rifle.

Below is a description of the various pellet types we sell at Gun City, but you will also find that pellet designs will cross over into one another.
