Tokyo Marui MPA5 RAS

Few eye-browns were lifted when Tokyo Marui announced their MP5 RAS AEG. The Tokyo Marui MP5 RAS AEG is part of the Tokyo Marui AEG series of compact, CQB-oriented, easy to accessorize airsoft guns.

On first glance it looks like Tokyo Marui just combined old models MP5K PDW and MP5 A5 plus few parts from other electric guns. Actually this is not really the case and what we have here is AEG with many useful features.

When you first get hold of the gun you notice it is very solid and easy to operate with front grip and folding stock. Weight is balanced, not too light and not too heavy in any part.

Starting from the stock, that is the folding stock we saw in PDW for the first time. It works well and does the job better than the tubular stock of A5. The back of the receiver has been reinforced with widened end as in SD models. This makes the folding stock very solid without wobble.

On top of the receiver there is new low-type mount base firmly attached to the receiver. The new red dot sight in it is better quality than one seen on P90 and offers excellent accuracy for shooting in CQB-conditions. There is three different sizes of the dot to be selected using a easily accessible rotating switch. There is two switches on sides for adjusting the sight.

The handgrip has been replaced with standard Marui R.A.S unit and it comes with front grip seen on SR-16 and M4 RIS. Unlike in M4 RIS, the mini-type battery can be installed inside the R.A.S unit. That is good practical upgrade and welcomed among players.

Interestingly, Marui has strengthened the cocking tube with installation of reinforcement part inside the tube.

A new feature to the MP5 family is the 14mm counter-clockwise barrel threading that allows for the easy installation of silencers with a similar threading. This will make silencer installation much easier and affordable.

In addition of the full size MP5 you get Rail Attachment System, front grip, red dot sight with mount base, silencer adapter and muzzle flash hider. Buying those parts alone would cost a lot more not mentioning the gun.
